Connections è la conferenza biennale della World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ) – l’organizzazione che include tutte le comunità ebraiche riformate, progressiste, liberali e ricostruzioniste in tutto il mondo, e che sostiene allo stesso tempo lo Stato di Israele come “culla” del popolo ebraico e della sua identità ebraica .
La conferenza è un incontro globale unico a Gerusalemme, ed offre alla “Famiglia WUPJ” (circa 1,8 milioni di membri in più di 50 paesi nel mondo), la possibilità di riunirsi, imparare, pregare, cantare e costruire assieme il futuro del popolo ebraico.
I partecipanti potranno celebrare ed esplorare i nostri valori condivisi, sperimentare il sionismo progressivo in Israele, essere ispirati dalla nostra leadership globale, incontrare vecchi e nuovi amici e sentirsi parte del movimento ebraico progressivo globale.
Connections di quest’anno è il primo raduno internazionale della Wupj che dal 2017 si terrà dal vivo, offrendo preziose opportunità alla comunità WUPJ, e ai leader regionali di tutte le età ed interessi per impegnarsi nuovamente, rivitalizzarsi e gioire assieme.
Si celebrerà assieme il 75° anniversario della creazione dello Stato di Israele, il 50° anniversario del trasferimento della sede internazionale del WUPJ a Beit Shmuel a Gerusalemme e la riapertura di tale sede.
La conferenza di quest’anno si baserà sull’innovativo modello “Unconference”: uno spazio per l’apprendimento, la collaborazione e la creatività tra pari, incentrato sul riunire i partecipanti per scambiare idee e pensare in grande, mettendo in atto la nostra visione condivisa come ebrei progressivi di oggi.
La conferenza faciliterà attivamente dozzine di opportunità parallele per incontrare nuove persone e avere conversazioni significative sia durante la programmazione formale che durante il tempo libero basato su interessi comuni ed obiettivi personali.
Connections manterrà, tuttavia, le componenti chiave amate da tutti coloro che parteciperanno, inclusi i servizi di Shabbat guidati da rabbini e cantori di tutto il mondo, nuove esperienze musicali, opportunità informali per fare rete e incontrare nuove persone e tours in Israele prima, durante e dopo Connections .
Infine, l’evento darà a tutti la possibilità di incontrare, di persona, il nuovo Presidente della WUPJ, il Rabbino Sergio Bergman, e pd unirsi a lui nella pianificazione del futuro della WUPJ e dell’ebraismo progressivo in tutto il mondo.
Connections is the biennial conference of the World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ) – the central hub that connects all Reform, Progressive, Liberal and Reconstructionist Jewish communities around the world while upholding the State of Israel as the center of the Jewish people and Jewish identity.
The conference is a unique global gathering in Jerusalem – giving members of the “WUPJ Family” from an estimated 1.8 million members in more than 50 countries the chance to come together and learn, pray, sing, and build the future of the Jewish people.
Attendees will be able to celebrate and explore our shared values, experience Progressive Zionism in Israel, be inspired by our global leadership, meet new and old friends and feel a part of the global Progressive Jewish Movement.
Running for more than 30 years, this year’s Connections is the WUPJ’s first in-person international gathering since 2017, providing the perfect opportunity for the WUPJ community and regional leaders of all ages and interests to re-engage, re-energize and rejoice together.
It will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the creation of the State of Israel, the 50th anniversary of the relocation of the WUPJ’s international headquarters to Beit Shmuel in Jerusalem, and the re-opening of those headquarters.
This year’s conference will be based on the innovative “Unconference” model – a space for peer-to-peer learning, collaboration and creativity, focusing on bringing participants together to exchange ideas and think big, putting our shared vision into action as Progressive Jews today.
The conference will actively facilitate dozens of parallel opportunities to meet new people and have meaningful conversations both during the formal programming and during free time based on common interests and personal goals.
It will, however, retain the key components beloved by all those who attend – including Shabbat services led by clergy from across the world, new music experiences, informal opportunities to network and meet new people, and tours across Israel before, during and after Connections.
Finally, the event will give everyone the chance to meet, in person, the WUPJ’s new President, Rabbi Sergio Bergman, and join him in planning the future of the WUPJ and Progressive Judaism around the world.
